Anybody know what this part/feature is? 7 months 1 week ago #71825

I have a Drive rollator. It has this lever-like part -- see picture. It rotates up and down but doesn't appear to do anything. There are two of them, one on each side. Anybody know what it is/does?

The instruction manual or Company of Mfg should give you a rapid response as to the purpose for these.

I would have thought they were brakes. The wheels aren't any harder to turn when the levers are down, though?

Do the wheels come off when the lever is in either position? I think maybe they are locking levers??

Sorry to be so late responding, I didn't get notice of replies. (That's common on forums for me)

The manual doesn't cover this part.
Correct, they do not lock the wheels
The wheels do not come off when the lever is in either position.

It sounds like you have or have access to a similar rollator. If so, apparently you tried moving them and nothing happened. Is that correct?

I figured out how to contact Drive. They call these things "Step Tubes", god knows why. The did explain you are to step on them when you come to a bump or small step and then press down on the handlebars to raise the front of the rollator aiding in going over the obstruction while preventing it from rolling backward. I tried it today and, I was surprised but, it really helps. They should explain this feature more thoroughly in the manual.

I wanted to come back and say how much I like and use this feature. It works great for me. I use it a lot. Anytime I come to a bump or small step-up the wheels won't roll over. I even use it for real steps that are singles -- i.e. not stairs.
