Hi all,
I used to swim at a very competitive level, 4 hours a day. Since my accident limited controlled movement in my left arm and none in my hand (was previously my dominant arm). I also wear a full arm brace with a an ajustable setting allowing me to move my arm in a controlled way. Or have any feeling in my left arm whatso ever. Ie learning from the begining. Slooowwwwllly.
I want to participate in an aerobic sport again an eventually at a high level. But at the moment it cant be anything that needs use of both arms, or risk of being knocked etc, also just running long distance isnt currently an option due to the weight of my arm brace (its metal) and heavy. iv had to wear it for 3 and a half years so far with no sign of stopping soon.
Anyway some advice on various sports or maybe adaptions or personal experience would be greatly appreciated,
Thankyou

I can't get my arm brace wet or take it off. Plus iv got to much metal etc in my shoulder an elbow the high impact would wreck it
. I only know this because I suggested this to my surgeon and physio. They werent impressed lol

Don't be sad about what you can't do in life. There are a ton of things to replace them

Disabled Sport has come a long since the Para-Olympic's I'm sure you will find something you enjoy in time. Until then enjoy trying lots of new sports out until you find the one that you enjoy the most!

How about running? You look to be quite slim and obviously care about your physical condition. You could eventually work yourself up to a marathon?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Running isn't currently an option but iv just started weight bearing through it, which is a big improvement so you never know I may be able to one day.

Is it to support your arm or does it have a motor on it?
