Fear of love

I know many disabled which dream of real love. It is a very big problem to find true love. People do not want to have relationship with disabled. Most of disabled always lonely. But if someone tell "I love you" to disabled... The first thought of disabled is "It is not love. This man or woman take pitty me. That`s all". Disabled dream of love but why they feel fear of love?

Not all people shy away from disabled people, we have had members who have found love with able bodied people before. We have even had a couple find love on this site! I think it depends on how disabled people are as well and the person. I believe there is someone out there for all of us.

You are a person not a disability, your disability may make your life harder, any people who shy away are not worth knowing anyway.

SO true!!

It was not about me. It was about Russian disabled. Many of them think that normal people want to live with disabled because of comfortable flat. So it is not love. And the first people who try to make disabled more lonely are his or her parents.

I understand what you mean I am now going through a divorce after being married for 18yrs,i had a STROKE/CARDIAC ARREST and I had to learn all over again what people take for granted,anyway to cut along story short she left because she played away with somebody who could give her what she wanted.

I always told my son he was special, and he is, most disabled people have to overcome pain and heartache on top of coping with any day to day problems relating to their disability. Tell yourself yes! you are special.

I totally agree with Bubbadogs first comment there is someone out there , you have to believe you are worthy of knowing FIRST hey your disabled they have to ACCEPT you for you just SMILE if they do not smile back that is their problem your worth knowing EVERYBODY ON HERE IS WORTH KNOWING THATS WHY I AM HERE I WANT TO GET TO KNOW OTHERS

I think that you are comparing the perception of some with the perception of others. I have never been one to think “oh this person has fallen bird complex” I know that despite the fact that I am disabled, I am funny and kind, that is why (I believe at least) people would want to be with me.

Thank you Marie for pointing out that it doesn't matter what disability you have it's what that person is like inside, I like to have fun and mess about and my husband is as daft as a brush as well and everyone says we are so suited to each other and he is my carer and able bodied. I'm the Amanda I was before I became sick and I'm proud of that!!
