to meet someone with the same disability
My name is Alexander. I am 28 years old.
I am living in the city of Dnipro, because in my hometown Donetsk there is currently a proxy war conflict. So, I personally can realize seriousness of humanitarian problems. And I know what these dire situations can lead to: hunger and food shortage, unavailability of medicines and health care, lack of personal care products, lack of drinking water and other problems. I understand how war conflict can endanger a minimum standard of rights for every human being. I occasionally bring food in a conflict zone. Secondly, at the age 23 I was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease. It is pigmentary retinal degeneration. People who have this disease have poor eyesight. Before being diagnosed with such a serious disease I used to be an ordinary and cheerful student who spent most of time getting education, developing professionally and doing different jobs in Football Federation of Ukraine. This awful diagnose has changed my life because now I understand all needs and problems of disabled people. I have become more tolerant, sensitive, understanding and caring to people with disability. I think that a person who has the same problems as disabled people can deeply understand their needs.
