to meet someone with the same disability
I am a 52-year-old woman who is divorced and lives independently. I am also a single parent. My disabilities are aggressive, treatment-resistant Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis (cervical spine C-4 thru C-7 and bases of thumbs), Fibromyalgia, Sjogren's Disease, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Depression and PTSD. I am a survivor of domestic violence and of other violence and abuse. My life has changed so much and I have lost nearly all of my family and friends because of all the changes. I would just like to chat with someone who can relate. I live in an area that has been unfriendly toward me and my children. We are a minority here and we don't speak the local language, nor do we come from the predominant culture here. We are English-speaking, 4th generation Americans in America. We are non-prejudiced, nice, decent people. Yet, we have been the targets of racist remarks, vandalism and various forms of intimidation. We happen to be White, in case anyone is wondering. I have home schooled my children for the past four years; difficult for me, but necessary for them. We can now afford to move, but need income-based housing or a very affordable home in a better area that would be welcoming to us. In the meantime, I'm coping with all of this alone and it is difficult. Having a friend or two would definitely help.
Movies, music, social issues. I enjoy deep conversations more than small-talk, but I am willing to chat on almost any topic. I would welcome a friendship that matured into a deeper relationship. But please don't contact me if your goal is to find someone to do "sexting" with..thank you.
Movie nights with my kids.
To move to a better place and to join a church there and participate in church social activities if possible.
My taste in music is wide-ranging. I tend to listen to whatever suits my mood at the time. I come from a family of musicians. I can no longer play because of my disability. My voice has been somewhat affected, but I still love to sing!
I enjoy most movie genres, especially good comedies, suspenseful thrillers and complex dramas. I'm not a big fan of extremely gory movies and I have trouble watching movies depicting women and/or children being chased and/or attacked. It triggers my PTSD.
I like documentaries and outdoor shows.
Other than the Bible and other spiritually enriching books, I haven't done a lot of reading lately. I used to read quite a bit of Stephen King and also enjoyed a couple of novels I read by Jeffrey Lent that were Historical Fiction. I enjoy descriptive writing, well drawn out characters and, of course, a good plot.
Jesus Christ and anyone who runs toward danger instead of away from it to help a fellow human being.
Being up in the mountains surrounded by Ponderosa pines or having dinner at a good Italian or Mediterranean restaurant.
