My name is John and I am 56 years old married to Maureen for 35 years and up until I became ill we had worked together for most of that time.
Before I became disabled I was the personal chef and butler to Lord and Lady Hanson here in the UK and in Palm Springs, California.
In 1978 I was elected to the Institute of Master Chefs
My hobbies include photography and in 1986 I was elected to the Royal Photographic Society,
I am also involved in the study of genealogy and social history and in 1980 was proposed and elected to the Society of Genealogists. In the pursuit of genealogy I use a computer to manage a database of some three thousand names and 100 families.

I am a bit peculiar. I like deciding my own personality.
I am 61, Italian, born in Argentina but living in Italy. Have travelled much, all around Western Europe and to India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Thailand. When I was young have been to Chili and Peru and in 1979 went on holidays to the States.
My friends say I am honest, good-hearted, courageous and clever. My enemies say sometimes I have a bad character and that I am presumptuous.
I don't watch TV (except mainly for the odd good soccer game) and I only go to the cinema if I find an interesting movie, especially a good Woody Allen film.
I look after a little Yorkshire Terrier that had been abandoned.
I like reading interesting essays,Catholic religion, history of the 20th Century, sociology, psychology, etc
I like to understand in what kind of world I am living, although I prefer not to conform.
I am a Catholic and respect all religions but try to understand how one becomes a good Christian.
I speak four languages: Italian, Spanish, English and French (plus a little German).
In 1998 I fell ill but I get good treatment, although I do not have the same energy as before.
I am quite good with my hands and like mending whatever I can that gets out of order in the house.
Naturally I have few friends but very good ones. Evenings when I go to bed, I like listening to music on the radio (plus the daily news) and reading my books

Having had an accident at work in 2009 it has left me with Fractured vertebra’s with other underlying spinal problems I now find myself needing a wheelchair more than not....

I'm a C7 incomplete quad as of June 2009. Everything I can do falls under the "just" catagory, meaning I can do it, JUST ! I can stand & walk but only for a couple of minutes with forearm crutches. I have full body sensation and function, again "just", but it's all pretty badly messed up. Dull in places, hyper sensative in others and I really can't perceive temperature from the shoulders down although from inside, I feel like I'm on fire, especially my legs. If I put my hand on my leg to see if my leg was actually hot or cold on the outside, I couldn't tell you by what I can feel with my hands. I set the water temp in the shower by what I can stand on my head or face as that's the only part of me I can accurately sense temperature. Any sudden exertion like a cough or a sneeze can start my hands shaking, particularly the right and the harder I try to do something or strain to reach something, the less control I have of my hands as they just lock up. If I don't concentrate on what my hands are doing I will drop things. Bladder and bowels works but its really knife edge stuff. By the time I become aware of the need to go, I have very little time to make it so I try to stay in front of that as much as possible. I have the usual nerve pain and spasming issues that come with a spinal injury but I live independantly.
