Microwaving a hamster

A man was jailed for microwaving a hamster, if so, many people kill cows for beef, therefore what is the difference between killing a cow and killing a hamster, should both punishedments be jail?

Killing cows for beef is for food.
Anyone who microwaves a hamster,presumably for their own 'pleasure',is sick and is in need of urgent psychiatric help in my opion.

Knowing the press they've probably got the story wrong
either the hamster crawled into the microwave on its own or a cat has learned to use a microwave and its owner took the wrap.:lol:

Hamsters are so cute, but also cows are adorable.

But ultimately, humans dont have any right at all to inflict pain and suffering & to cause the death of any animal!
