My name is Sara and I just joined. 3 years ago I suffered a spinal cord stroke and a TIA (mini stroke), which has left me paraplegic I have loads of medical problems including type 1 diabetes, peripheral, motor, sensory and autonomical neuropathy and have a supra pubic catheter.
I would love to hear from new people, I try not to let my medical problems define who I am. I'm a very positive person and I have broad shoulders to listen to others 'vent' off to or just to have a chat x

Hi there I am not too bad thank you. Can I ask what caused your spinal cord injury? How long ago was it. I really struggled for the first 18 months, but am getting more used to it now. Although I don't feel like I can come to terms with it yet.
My biggest issues were having to give up work and not being to drive anymore.
Anyway take care and thank you for your message

I was born with a severe spinal deformity which had resulted in nerve damage and spinal stenosis. The cord itself is only partially damaged I have good feeling but total loss of bowel and blader functions and very little leg movement.
Have had 10 operations in the last twenty years alone. Now waiting on another operation at the Walton centre in Liverpool to widen the spinal canal and make more room for the cord.
You take care and if I can be of any help just ask.
