This hotel was near perfection for us and we don't say that lightly! The minute we pulled outside the hotel we had a good feeling, it was sparkling clean and there was a purpose built ramp for wheelchairs. We where greeted with cold juice which was welcomed as it was 42oc that afternoon! After booking in we where taken to our room which was a hop, skip and jump from reception, we where shocked at the size of the room door as it was an extra-wide opening for wheelchairs which made us smile. The bell boy opened it and we where hit with a bright airy room. We did our rounds of the room, 4 door balcony so wheelchairs can go onto balcony! wide space filled room so wheelchairs can move about the room and the piece de la resistance a wet room bathroom with double opening doors to wheel a wheelchair into the shower area with a shower chair! Grab rails in the shower area and around toilet and lowered sink to wash!! This room was a disabled persons dream!!!
There where several lifts in the main block and a disabled toilet and 2 disabled toilets outside in the hotel area. It was easy to manoeuvre in the outdoor area, one part of the main pool was a slope entrance so easy to get in. The Captains Deck restaurant and the Severn Orchids Pan Asian restaurant outside had a ramp to get to them. The Restaurants we ate in main buffet, Severn Orchids and Rock n Roll American Diner (3 times!) where lovely and the staff always wanting to help and had fun talking with them especially my other half who was always playing up the waitresses!! The nightly entertainment was hit and miss best show was 'The Commitments' & Chris Andre (yes Peter Andre's Brother!!)
Pathos
Outside before the beach was a path, not the greatest for wheelchairs! Was like crazy pathing! Which went right up to the harbour. My husband pushed me along to harbour one day it was 36oc and it took us half an hour to get there. We had a drink and a wander round and decided to come back by taxi another day and do a boat trip. We got a taxi back to the hotel as the thought of him pushing me back in that heat was awful! The harbour area is really nice, lots of bars and restaurants and every type of shop you could think of. The path was hit and miss some flat and some bumpy.
Over all we enjoyed Pathos a lot, people so friendly and the weather after the end of the heatwave which finished 2 days after we got there, so had to endure 42oc for a couple of days then after that a more bearable 35 - 38oc. The hotel was the best ever for it being disabled friendly and the staff where excellent. So over all a 5* holiday.
