I thought the point of repeat pescriptions was to help paitents with alot of meds order them easily and help G.P's by cutting time in having to write them! Well I can after todays performance say it's rubbish!!
I take alot of meds and have my meds on repeat pescription and order them online to make my G.P's life simpler, and when I go and see the doctor at the surgery or when I have a phone consultation I always check that my repeat pescription is upto date so I can do it online. Well I remember when I went to see a doctor in the surgery a fortnight ago I discussed my meds added a new one to my repeat pescription and asked the G.P to update my repeat pescription and he said he had done it. When I had a phone consultation with my G.P on Friday we had a chat and she asked if I needed anything and I said I was going to need stuff soon and I said to her (because I remembered saying it) 'can you make sure my repeat pescription is all upto date' and she said fine.
Well today I sent in a repeat pescription online, and noticed when I checked my emails on my phone there was an email from my G.P's saying your repeat pescription needs updating by a G.P!! Well I jumped on the phone and said I know my repeat is upto date, and the receptionist is saying sorry it hasn't been which is putting me in a bad position because it means I'm going to be short of meds for at least 3 days depending on when a G.P can have a 'free slot' to call me.
It is so annoying that a simple mistake on their part can cause a patient alot of problems with no medication! Something needs to be done, so repeat pescriptions can be updated without this problem occuring because it's the patient who suffer not the G.P!!
