Planning a holiday when disabled! was created by
Well it's that time of year again! Looking through brochures and on the internet looking for our summer holiday. But it's more than that when disabled!! Sure find a nice cruise or hotel but then you have to look at disabled access round the hotel grounds and if there are disabled rooms and if they have a shower cubicle/walk in shower, if the doors are wide enough for a wheelchair...the list goes on!
Then when your satisfied with that and you phone to book it you have to sort assistance at the airport and the seat on the plane for departing and coming home and when arriving at destination transport to transfer to the ship or hotel and back to the airport.
And when that's all sorted and it's near the holiday time you have to sort out your medication and that you will have enough for your holiday and for when you get home and that you have your doctors note to confirm why your taking a 'class A' drug on holiday with you! (in my case Morphine!!) By the time it's ready to go you will need a holiday!!!

I'm glad you had a wonderful holiday. Finally we are in a situation where we are thinking about getting away for a while. Florida is a possibility. We have been there before, but this time it would be just the two of us. We may drive down, staying over one night on the way. My husband and I are looking at St. Augustine or possibly the Keys.
BTW, I love how the British say, "holiday". Like it's a celebration. We use the term "vacation". Like things are so terrible at home we have to vacate, get the hell out of town! lol

Yes we like the word 'holiday' we usually start singing Madonna's 'holiday' when we are packing to go!! Yes your right the word 'vacation' does sound like you need to vacate your home.
We went to the Florida Keys on 2 of our cruises it is lovely there and the Caribbean is nice at this time of year. When will you be going? You do deserve a holiday after what you have been through this year hun.

Usually we go somewhere warm when winter starts seeming a bit long, like February or March. I love Florida and haven't been there in years. I wish I could get Rick a bit more enthused about going. He needs a break and I don't think he realizes it!
