HOW MUCH !!!!!! was created by Sandie
Lets compare the cost of everyday products to what they were in the years when we were kids.

My pocket money was 3d (old money)
For that I could buy enough sweets to last me a week
A sherbert lemon was 1d
I could get 3 gob stoppers for 1d
A bag of aniseed balls for a 1d
The gob stoppers lasted for days they were huge (hense the name)
you could not talk with one of those in your mouth

Exactly my dear!!

I remember when I was at school you could get a bag of sweets called a 10p mix! Now it's more like a £2-3 mix!! Big difference!!

Friday was Fish & Chip day costing sixpence, if you could'nt afford fish they would give you scraps which were small pieces of fried batter.not good for the cholesterol, but that word was'nt around then. :P

When I first started work I was paid £3 per week, my mother took £2 10shillings I got to keep a 10 bob note that would be the same as todays 50 pence, out of that I had to buy my own clothes, make up, stockings and ciggies, it went a long way in those days, although if you wanted new shoes or handbag you had to save up for it
