Okay so in the US each state is assigned a certain number of Electoral Votes. The person who gets the most of these Electoral Votes wins despite not getting the popular vote. In this Election most people actually didn't vote meaning the Popular was very skewed and even then Hillary won the popular vote but she did not get the majority of the Electoral Votes which went to Trump. About 2 million to 3 million more people voted for Hillary. Trump lost the popular vote.
We elected him due to a weird rule not due to we are a bunch of incestual bigots who hate everyone. Please remember that these rules were put in effect by our founders to protect farming states.
