A few weeks ago, four wheelchair taxis refused me as they said don’t have to take powered wheelchairs as this is the rule of the train station My powered wheelchair is only small and it weighs 65kg. Some drivers said my wheelchair was too heavy for their ramps but this is rubbish as these cars are designed for powered wheelchairs and how do they know it was too heavy as they didn’t ask me the weight of the chair!
I have been in the same type of taxis loads of times. I am 100% safe in these taxis! They didn’t want to take me because it takes longer to put a wheelchair in the taxi. They said no to me and took the able bodied users behind me. So yes its 100% discrimination against disabled people!
So I am wondering if anyone else has problems with taxis because of your disability?
