DLA impossible to claim n even harder to keep. !!!

hi again peeps was just thinking I can't be the only one on here who is having or has had nothing but probs trying to claim DLA or trying to keep it if they got it.
Yet there are some people out there who scam the dla n get everything n then theres people like us who have a recognised permanent disabling condition that affects there whole life that have to fight tooth n nail n often get nowhere.
how can anything be done about this? is there any way that the little people can sort this? Pettitions? letters en mass to mp's etc how do you get a condition registered so that it is instantly recognised with the dla for instance, why do some conditions automaticaly ensure full dla and others that are crippling and life threatening not?

Anyone else got a gripe with them ??

Loads of huggles to Ducky for her words of support, I sent the appeal a copy of their own government explanation sheet on hypermobility, I even highlighted the bits that list symptoms and disabilities, long term prognosis n incureability etc, bit cheeky n sarcastic to use their own blurb against them but any amunition is better than none. I also sent them the diagnosis sheet.

Taking my Dave with me to the appeal he cares for me 24/7 n knows better than anyone the problems and pain I am in plus he is my registered carer.
Also got reams n reams of paperwork and information on hypermobility to throw at them . think we as prepared as can be, I hope.

well...through my letter box this morning came my reclaim form:(


i hate filling this out....


seems like allday everyday i am fighting to lead as normal a life as possible, accepting my limitations, and trying to work ways around them.......allways aware of my probs, but never having to focus on all of them at the same time.. ...........this form makes me not only focus on them all at the same time, but makes me relive a lot of stuff that happenned in the past.....i hate it for that !!!

i know that it will take me several weeks to complete the form....just because mentally going through each section is tough and is better for me to do each part slowly, so not too traumatising...

I dont understand Suzan why you and Kitty keep having to reclaim the DLA.. your disabilty and any illness arising from that have not changed...Is it because they keep changing the goal post and anybody claiming it after a certain year has to do that.. if sombody can please explain it to me
I was told to claim the higher care part of DLA by doctors and specialist.. but they turned that down wether that is because I dont live on my own I am not sure but I dont worry about it I am better of than a lot of disabled people I have had help with the mobilty part since 1974 and got middle component in 1997 I didnt know anythink about the cares part untill a friend asked me why I was not claiming it

I think my prob is that I originally applied before we had the full diagnosis and my original award was only for around 2 yrs, n I had to fight tooth n nail 4 that ie apeal cause they refused it at first, I eventually got it a yr later they back dated it but I got the car anyway, but only got base rate care n it only just coming up 4 apeal on 23rd this month, the renewal of the whole thing is due this april so gotta go thru the whole lot again,

Now I have my diagnosis doesn't even guarantee I'll get it or mobility again, been hearing loads o horror stories on the hypermobility web site o people worse than me cant even get the mobility never mind care componant,the decision makers have no clue what hypermobility is and what it involves or that u have it all ur life and its progressive. Some have even gone thru the medical examination checks n the docs sent out didn't know about it either one case o a doc trying to prove the point and dislocated the poor guys shoulder.

they automatically assume ur scamming even with a doctors, surgeons, specialists letter etc etc.

Since I claimed DLA in February 2004, I have to fill out DLA Forms every 2 years,

All my forms have had to be filled out by someone else who does DLA Forms & Benefit Forms for a job.

My Nanny who has Bipolar Disorder has Her DLA reviewed roughly every 10 years & She's even been comment many times to hospital.
