A Disabled Teen Who Learned to Speak by Talking to Horses

Daelyn is one of only a few people in recorded history diagnosed with her ultra-rare genetic condition, a disorder of the FBXW11 gene. She communicates by repeating lines from her favorite TV shows and movies and has developed a language that’s uniquely her own. Surrounded by animals in her backyard like horses and even a kangaroo, Daelyn practices her speech freely, knowing these animals will never judge her. Her family wants the world to know that Daelyn genuinely wants to connect with others, even if it doesn’t look “typical.”
