car boot closing was created by cakefairy
hi, how do all you wheelchair users/drivers [in uk]
manage to close the boot;
with my last car i was able to manage with a strap attached to the boot, but have just changed my car and the boot is heavier, and i am getting problems with my arm.
i can't be the only one.

Hi Fairy..I know exactly what you mean and with the increase in Hatch-Backs its got worse. I drive a Ford Mondeo and the boot it massive with a large heavy boot lid....I have to use the hook of my walking stick to pull it down far enough for me to reach and shut it....The manufacturers think they have compensated by adding shock-type absorbers,but they dont work on my car....Think your strap solution is going in the right direction....Maybe some bright spark can produce a remote-controlled boot lid xxxx :blink:

hi tony, thanks for your reply.
i think some cars are now being made with remote
closing boots,[ new c-max], but you know what its like trying to choose a car to fit your needs,in my case automatic,high seating, room for wheelchair and hoist,
plus in price range, the zafira was the only one that fitted the bill.
having had an astra estate before, with a strap, i didn't realise this one woud be so much heavier.
warning to other wheelchair users.
thanks again from sunny devon.

Is there any adaption that the dealer can make to assist you....It might be worth sending off an email to the manufacturer explaining the problem xxxx
