Low income parents of children and young adults who are disabled or seriously ill will be able to apply for a share of a Government grant fund from April 2013.

The £27.3 million grant, issued to the Family Fund, will help families to support their loved ones and help make positive changes in their day-to-day lives. Previously, the money has been used for days out, garden play equipment, computers, toys and kitchen appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines.

Now in its fortieth year, the grant has since helped thousands of people with children who have some of the most complex needs – over 50,000 families in England benefiting from last year’s £27m fund alone.

Although they do not fund medical equipment, you may be able to gain financial support for purchasing Smartbox equipment that helps with access to the curriculum, gaming and computer access. Please speak to one of our Assessment Team if you require further information or advice about our equipment.

To find out more, please visit the Family Fund website where you can learn more about the fund and how to make an application.
