RNID is calling on fitness enthusiasts to put on their running shoes, get on their bike and make a splash for the charity at this year’s London Triathlon
The charity, which represents the UK’s nine million deaf and hard of hearing people, wants to hear from people wanting to try the ultimate physical challenge of swimming, cycling and running across London on 9 – 10 August 2008.
Although the ballot for places is now closed, RNID’s guaranteed slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis to prospective fundraisers who pay a £50 registration fee and raise a minimum of £500 for the charity. People have the choice to compete individually, or form a relay team with two friends, each person covering off one of the disciplines.
Caroline Jupe, RNID Events & Community Fundraising Executive, said: \"If you’re up for pushing yourself to your speed and endurance limits at the world’s biggest triathlon event, sign up now for a RNID place and help us change the world for the UK’s nine million deaf and hard of hearing people.\"
Money raised by RNID participants at the London Triathlon will help fund projects and services that improve the everyday lives of deaf and hard of hearing people.
