Yesterday the Department of work & pensions envelope arrived I had a horrible feeling it was going to happen as the government has changed Disability living allowance to ESA and is retesting everyone who claims it. So even though I was awarded DLA for life I've got to now fill in these forms and send them back for these job worth's to decide if I'm still sick enough to have the benefit or whether to take me off it and make me look for work. It's really stressing me out as I know I can't work as I tried and only lasted one day!! So now it will be up to some jobs worth who doesn't know me or how sick I am to make the decision on how my life will pan out!!
That is not nice feeling. As you say they make you feel like criminals.
Earlier this they the put me in the ESA support group.
I got DLA and it was meant to be for life. But they reckon next year I will have to go through the test to still qualify. Apparently it is about what you 'can do' not what you 'can't'. When I called them and explained that is exactly what ESA looked at before, they said but that was a different department? I explained then you have 2 departments asking the same things, who can come out with different decisions. ..I then got the cold shoulder and told "not to worry it is not until next year." My neuron rehab specialist said I have reached the maximum point of recovery that I could. So I won't be doing any more improving or "getting better" as mcvey likes to call it.

I'm sorry for the stress and anxiety that the DWP has made you feel, I know exactly what it's like.
I have been claiming ESA for a year now and just had a Tribunal to tell me if I am sick enough to claim after my ATOS assessment said I was perfectly fine.
I can agree with the Government that there should be checks on if people are still disabled, but I do not agree with the assessments. They cause unnecessary stress to people who cannot cope with it.
I am still waiting for my Tribunal decision which should come in the post later today, so fingers crossed. And I wish you all the best with your claim.
