We do things differently to the big mobile networks. We're run by our members.
Our members get rewarded for running parts of our business like answering questions in the community, getting new members or helping make us famous. This means we keep our costs low and pass the savings back to our members.
But you don't have to do anything if you don't want to. Our amazing goodybags and prices will remain the same if you want to get involved or not.
We promise to always keep things simple. And to always do our best to be fair.
We believe in the power of the community. When the community succeeds, we succeed - and vice versa.

Having read both of these, you will clearly see that giffgaff is a new mobile company that has its own set of beliefs and practices. But for those who are interested in where we have come from, we are a fully independent company but we are part of the overall Telefonica O2 family, and we run our service on the O2 network.

Giff-what? Yes, we know it’s a funny name. Giffgaff is a brand new mobile network that doesn’t play by mainstream rules.
Instead, the company’s customers help run the company in return for cash rewards. Hence the term ‘giffgaff’, which means ‘mutual giving’, as any ancient Scot will tell you.
Customers can earn rewards for helping other customers with queries, designing marketing materials or by recruiting new members.
The business runs a tight ship - it has no call centres, high street shops and doesn't splash out on expensive, glossy ad campaigns.
The result of this is that giffgaff keeps its costs low and and is able to pass the savings on to all its customers.
Although giffgaff is owned by O2 it is run as a separate company by a small group of passionate, full-time employees based in Beaconsfield just 8 miles north of Slough.
If it sounds strange, new and interesting, that’s because it is. So take a look at the website to see this ground-breaking idea in action.
Skills for the future
