Even though it had been unpleasant for him, he had sensed the strange things that had been happening. One minute he had been potting - in his potting shed, the next, he was transported mentally to the place where this story takes place... floating above the scene, a disembodied entity seeing all, but with no real physical presence, unable to intervene. "This is a job for me, Psychic Man",he murmered to himself as he puffed on his pipe. Within a few short hours he donned his trusy balaclava and bicycle clips and peddled off to offer his services in person. He had a vague idea where he was going, but had to stop several times to ask for directions - proving he had some blind spots in his abillities and could be written out of any story should the fates so decree... At last he arrived at his destination. The woman lay in the doorway. She twitched strangely. Behind her a purple mist began to materialise...
